Behind the Scenes Filming for Growing A Greener World Season 11

June 2020 started with a bang! We had the pleasure of hosting Joe Lamp’l and the Growing A Greener World team to film TWO episodes for the upcoming 11th season on PBS.

Rain or shine we got both episodes recorded! It was a team effort, with a LOT of hard work but I cannot wait to see the results when the new season airs in early September!

EPISODE 1102- The Foodscape Revolution

What a joy to professionally film an episode on my passion: foodscaping! We covered all the essential information to teach ANYONE how to foodscape. From site selection, crop rotations, soil preparation and everything in between this episode will be one not to miss!

The cool temperatures and rain cleared just in time for Joe and his team to visit. Sunscreen, sweating and planning sessions in the shade or AC was the norm! This crew of professionals came with a plan and was to swiftly guide the rest of us to success!

My long-time garden helpers, neighbors Aidan (13) and Abby Delgatto (10) worked along side the GGWTV crew as talent and technical staff. They are going to be feature in episode 1108 that will air in November 2020. We are all thrilled for them to show off their gardening skills and inspire the next generation of gardeners. THE FUTURE IS GREEN!

EPISODE 1108- GARDENING WITH KIDS

When Joe proposed filming an episode of Growing a Greener World with Aidan and Abby as the stars we all squealed with delight. Their hard work really is paying off and they have a valuable skill set and knowledge that anyone would benefit from. From novice growers to experienced, life long gardeners these kids have insights that will blow your mind!

One of their favorite activities featured in the episode was the grains process! From harvesting to threshing, winnowing and grinding they showed exactly how easy it to to grow your own flour, or beer! They harvested both wheat and barley bound for the kitchen.

They also showcased their neighborhood Foodscape Revolution efforts! They harvested spring planted broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage from Ms Peggy’s house.

It was a delightful, exhausting first week of June with the talented and thoughtful team of growing A a Greener World. I am so grateful for experiences like these and look forward to sharing the details when the shows air later this fall.
